연세대학교 건축공학과 학부와 석사학위를 받았으며, 구조물의 비전 모니터링 (Vision-based health monitoring)을 연구하였다. 이후 대림산업 건축연구지원팀에서 약 3년 반 동안 근무하였고, 미국 노스캐롤라이나 주립대학 (North Carolina State University)에서 지오폴리머 재료 배합 개발 및 콘크리트 마모성능 평가를 주제로 박사학위를 받았다. 이후 미국의 Titan America에서 Technical Services Engineer로 약 1년 2개월 동안 근무하였고, 주 업무는 시멘트, 플라이애시, 골재 등의 Quality control 및 Plant audit 등이 있다. 현재 지오폴리머를 이용한 단열 및 필터 개발 연구를 수행하고 있다.
